Warm weather predicted to cause surge in heartworm disease

According to the Companion Animal Parasite Council, warmer winter weather will likely cause an uptick in disease-carrying vectors, including mosquitoes, and the illnesses they bring. Heartworm disease is of particular concern, especially in the South. Monthly heartworm prevention administered year-round is the best way to protect pets from heartworm disease, experts say.
