Decades-long MSM study traces transmission of hepatitis C

Findings reported in Clinical Infectious Diseases show that hepatitis C transmission among men who have sex with men has been going on for at least decades. Among MSM with HIV, researchers found a link between lower CD4 cell counts and hepatitis C incidence. The study involved 5,310 men who were monitored between 1984 and 2011. Three percent of the study group reported having had a blood transfusion.
