Early same-store sales reports reflect softer demand in March

Cold weather and an early Easter led to softer March same-store sales results for many retailers that report monthly, with a few exceptions. American Apparel reported a 5% rise in same-store sales and a 26% jump in online sales, and L Brands beat analysts' expectations at all of its chains.
