Netflix says it may use social networks to share company data

Netflix says it may become one of the first corporations to use social networks such as Twitter and Facebook for transmitting financial disclosures. "In light of the SEC's guidance, we encourage investors, the media, and others interested in our company to review the information we post on the U.S. social media," the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC cleared the way for such releases after an investigation following a Twitter post by CEO Reed Hastings about the company hitting a streaming-hours milestone.
