Fire Chief Questions Lack Of Officers At Twin Towers' Sky Lobbies

The Port Authority removed deputy fire safety directors from the World Trade Center's 44th and 78th sky lobbies in 1997 -- a decision some say could have led to confusion on Sept. 11. The Port Authority says the Twin Towers had some of the most advanced fire safety systems available and the 1997 decision had no bearing on evacuation on Sept. 11.
