Philadelphia School Revamp Taking Shape

Philadelphia's School Reform Commission yesterday said it may put as many as 75 schools under the system's new governance structure, which includes a major role for management by for-profit companies. No high schools are on the list, reportedly indicating that private managers may be reluctant to take them on. Teachers in targeted schools would have the option to transfer within the district, provided jobs are available.
