Indiana journalism teacher may be fired over student editorial

Amy Sorrell, a teacher and advisor to the Woodlan Junior-Senior High School newspaper in Woodburn, Ind., may be fired May 1, over a student-written opinion piece published in the school paper advocating tolerance for gays and lesbians. The principal said the piece was inappropriate and demanded to review all future articles; when Sorrell and her students objected, she was put on leave pending a school board hearing.
