New roof at Smithsonian a symmetrical work of art of its own

The striking new roof that joins three domes at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington is said to be reminiscent of designer Foster & Partners scheme for the Great Court at the British Museum. The roof was modeled parametrically in 3-D and adds a symmetry to the classical architecture it overlays.
