SEC looks into issues surrounding ratings agencies

Erik Sirri, director of the trading and markets division at the Securities and Exchange Commission, said regulators will likely propose rules for credit rating agencies to address potential conflicts of interest in the next few months. Sirri said the SEC is assessing its reliance on ratings regarding the establishment of some market rules. The markets watchdog is conducting a broad review of the industry, he said, and the proposals are part of that process.
