L.A. teachers agree to shorter school year to save money, jobs

Los Angeles teachers have agreed to shortened school years through the 2010-11 school year in an effort to save the district $140 million and preserve 2,100 jobs. Under the agreement, which the school board is to vote on Tuesday, five days will be cut this school year and seven instructional days will be cut next year.
