Aviation manufacturers report little impact from Japan quake

Japan's earthquake and tsunami have not yet slowed production for U.S. aviation manufacturers, though the full implications of the natural disasters may not be known for weeks, according to experts. Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft and Spirit AeroSystems report little or no supply chain interruptions, but Loren Thompson of the Lexington Institute believes delays are inevitable. "Of course there's going to be an impact, because the United States has gradually offshored many industrial parts that once were produced domestically," he says.
