Serene Lakes, Calif., has been indefinitely evacuated after a propane explosion destroyed a three-story home amid nearly 25 other leaks in the area. The leaks were caused by heavy snow that left most of the community's propane tanks buried beneath 20 to 30 feet of snow, and officials say that since plowing could cause sparks, it won't be possible to patch the leaks until the snow melts. "We don't expect that to be anytime soon -- weeks at the earliest," says a local emergency-planning official.
