Diabetes is linked to scarring hair loss in black women

Data on 326 black women found that about one in six respondents experienced scarring hair loss and more than 50% of those who did said they braided or weaved their hair or used extensions. Women with type 2 diabetes and those with bacterial scalp infection had a higher risk of scarring hair loss, according to the study in the Archives of Dermatology.
