Appeals court takes a more limited view of anti-hacking statute

An appeals court has disagreed with the government's interpretation of a 1984 anti-hacking statute. The government's interpretation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act could criminalize seemingly harmless behavior, wrote Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Other courts have taken a broader view of the law.
