Medtronic gets expanded FDA approval for heart failure device

Medtronic has received expanded FDA approval for use of its CRT-D device in patients with mild symptoms of heart failure. The implantable cardioverter defibrillator, which transmits electrical signals to cardiac muscles to enhance blood pumping in the heart, had been previously approved for treating moderate-to-severe heart failure patients.
