How are dependent young adults using their new coverage?

A new study from the Employee Benefit Research Institute finds young adults covered by their parents' health insurance are mostly using their coverage to cover costs associated with depression, substance abuse and pregnancy, accounting for 60% of claims for their hospital care in 2011. HHS reports that almost 3.1 million people ages 19 to 25 are insured as dependents on their parents' health policies, as allowed by the Affordable Care Act.
