DHS makes progress on site security plan approvals

The Homeland Security Department continues to make progress on approving chemical facilities' site security plans, with new data showing it approved 143 site security plans between Feb. 1 and April 1 and authorized 282 site security plans during that time. Meanwhile, a House Homeland Security subcommittee recently advanced legislation to extend the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards program's authorization for three years, and the full committee is likely to consider the bill in a few weeks.
