Providers to use caution linking youth strep, psychiatric disorders

Health care professionals should reconsider prescribing antibiotics to children based on the belief there is a link between strep infection and developing tics and obsessive behavior, according to a report in the journal Pediatrics. The study says that although strep may be involved in some cases, scientific evidence is not substantial enough to prove the connection to involuntary behavior.
