German state says federal law blocks biotech crop research

The German state of Sachsen-Anhalt plans to sue the federal government in an effort to overturn a new law state officials say is blocking local research into biotech crops. The law allows farmers to claim damage if their non-biotech crop is cross-pollinated by biotech crops, but critics say the law is vague and discourages any biotech crop research.
