A Louisiana legislative package proposed by the state's governor and insurance commissioner aims to attract more insurers and reduce rates through competition. Gov. Kathleen Blanco said Wednesday the bill will also help Louisiana recover from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. "While Louisiana is on the right road to recovery, we all know that journey will be short-lived if we do not have insurance to protect our new investments," Blanco said. "Property insurability is inextricably linked to the future of our state."
