SIFMA responds to bill to change subprime-market investment

Lawmakers are working on a bill that would discourage investment banks and other financial institutions from repackaging subprime mortgages into securities and selling them to investors. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association responded by saying, "any legislative response should curtail abusive practices while not restricting the availability of credit or harming legitimate secondary market activity."
