Florida school district's wellness efforts pay off

Polk County Public Schools in Florida won a 2009 School Employee Wellness Award for a program that led to a 46% drop in overall medical costs. The wellness program, which focuses on physical activity, healthy eating, stress management and weight control, also resulted in a 15% increase is diabetes identification and a 78% decrease in medical costs related to the disease.
