Former surgeon general gives diet, exercise prescription

Former U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher advised that people should get at least 30 minutes of exercise five days a week and a minimum of five servings of vegetables and fruits daily to help prevent diabetes, cancer and heart disease. He also promoted whole grains and low- or nonfat dairy products and said that starting with children could also influence the eating habits of adults.
