Investment banks strive to ease capital rules, mitigate effects

Investment bankers are aiming to get the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision to ease up on its proposed capital requirements, saying the rules could hinder credit to the broader economy and reduce banks' profit. Meanwhile, bankers have started to develop products that would help the banks mitigate effects of the proposed requirements. The Basel Committee is accepting feedback on its proposals until Friday.
