The recession and climate-change controversies have taken their toll on the U.S. environmental movement, writes Joel Makower, with a glut of new polls suggesting that Americans are unconvinced by climate science. Worse, even those who do believe in the need for environmental action aren't willing to make sacrifices to save the planet, Makower notes.
