Seismic activity increasing in Southern California

Southern California is experiencing an increase in the frequency of seismic activity this year, as the region has already been hit by 70 earthquakes, compared with 30 last year and 29 in 2008. Although scientists could not explain why earthquakes are becoming more frequent, they warned that the trend may suggest that major earthquakes could strike the region soon.
