Details show spending bill's toll on education programs

Details released Tuesday on a plan to fund the federal government through September show that many cuts to education programs introduced in stop-gap budget measures will stand. The budget bill does include $700 million for a new round of federal Race to the Top grants, $150 million for Investing in Innovation grants and level funding for many other key programs, including the Teacher Incentive Fund and Title I grants. Lawmakers are expected to vote on the measure this week.
