It's not enough for companies to create eco-friendly products, write Bill Armstrong and Arnold Barlow: packaging and shipping processes also need to be considered. Good packaging should be space- and weight-efficient to minimize shipping-related emissions, resilient to minimize waste and, ideally, reusable. "Companies selling sustainable products and promoting other environmentally conscious efforts need to make sure their packaging and shipping systems match their sustainable image," Armstrong and Barlow write.
