Old concrete storage room gets new life as art gallery

Australia's Art Gallery of New South Wales is spending $35.2 million to renovate a concrete storage room into new gallery space. The simple concrete frame will display 200 contemporary works. "It brings into public play an area that is aesthetically and conceptually different from the rest of the gallery," said AGNSW Director Edmund Capon. "It has a more generous and industrial feel. It has a whole new dynamic."
