Energy firms are turning to natural gas for drilling-rig fuel

Energy companies in North America are turning to cheaper natural gas -- instead of diesel fuel -- to fuel their drilling rigs, observers say. Apache is working on the conversion of its first rig to operate on liquefied natural gas, while 15 of Encana's rigs already run on gas. "What we need to do is increase the amount of natural gas demand in this country," said Steve Farris, chairman and CEO of Apache.
