Georgia county's schools add 20 propane buses to fleet

Ferrellgas and Blue Bird provided schools in Hall County, Ga., with 20 propane-fueled buses that will help the county save on fuel and reduce emissions from operations. Hall County could cut diesel consumption by 60,000 to 70,000 gallons and reduce fuel costs by about $1.50 per gallon, offsetting the more expensive propane buses, according to Jewel Armour, executive director of operations for the school district, who added that the buses also require less maintenance than their diesel counterparts. The buses will have pump stations at the bus shop, East Hall High School and Chestatee High School.
