Research looks at prevalence of auditory hallucinations in children

Auditory hallucinations affect 21% to 23% of Irish children aged 11 to 13 years, and 57% of those children may have a psychiatric disorder, according to a study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry. Most cases resolve as children get older, but 7% of adolescents aged 13 to 16 reported hearing voices, and nearly 80% of them were found to have a psychiatric disorder.
