Survey finds rise in security breaches despite compliance efforts

Federal auditing and reporting requirements have sparked greater security compliance among health groups, with 96% of respondents to a Kroll Advisory Solutions and HIMSS Analytics survey saying their groups performed a formal risk evaluation over the past year. However, 27% of respondents said they experienced a security breach last year, up from 19% in 2010.
