N.Y. district asked to step up wellness efforts

Buffalo, N.Y., public schools passed a new wellness policy last year, which set standards for physical activity for students. Now, however, some parents and others are asking the school board to fully implement the policy as one way to help lower the district's rate of obesity among students. Officials say they are looking for ways to come into compliance with the policy, including hiring more physical-education teachers.
