Officials in Wis. county caution residents on propane tank disposal

Officials in Wisconsin's Waukesha County are warning residents to avoid putting their empty propane tanks in recycling bins because the pressurized containers may cause explosions when compressed. Residents are reminded to check propane tank tags for ways to properly dispose of the empty cylinders or to take the tanks to local propane tank dealers. Recycling facility workers discovered more than 100 empty tanks in recycling bins in the first week of April alone.
