Security breach at LexisNexis worse than initially reported

Last month's security breach of personal data files controlled by the LexisNexis Group may have been 10 times larger than initially reported, the company said, with as many as 310,000 consumers' sensitive data like Social Security numbers having been released to unauthorized users. The revelation was criticized by Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., who along with Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., has introduced legislation to limit and control sales of personal data.
