Drugmakers turn to strategy masters to address challenges

Major drug companies, including Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer, have hired executive strategists to guide them through research problems, generic competition and government scrutiny. The strategy chiefs are to identify new business opportunities, supervise cost-saving programs and tighten coordination among company divisions. Their efforts could result in marked changes to the industry's business models.
