Counties see stimulus as excuse to cut education spending

Some counties are using an influx of federal dollars into local schools as an excuse to slash education funding. However, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan has warned against this practice, saying, "Where we see a state or district operating in bad faith or doing something counter to the president's intent, we're going to come down like a ton of bricks."
