Instrument landing system in store for Alabama airport

The Northeast Alabama Regional Airport in Gadsden, Ala., is set to receive a new instrument landing system after receiving a $373,000 FAA grant to upgrade its electrical system. The system is expected to be operational by the end of the year, and the airport is developing longer-range plans, including construction of a larger hangar and an apron and taxi area off the airport's shorter runway.
