FAA banking on NextGen to vastly improve air travel

The Federal Aviation Administration says its NextGen aviation transportation system will lead to much-improved air safety measures by using global positioning satellites to keep better tabs on planes in the air and on the ground. NextGen will use satellite-based technologies to boost air capacity and the efficiency of U.S. airports. The FAA says NextGen will even reduce fuel burn, carbon emissions and noise.
