Geithner commentary: Regulatory reform is headed in right direction

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner explains that the country is nearing the end of the economic crisis, although too many Americans continue to struggle with unemployment and other economic difficulties. While an effort in Congress to overhaul the financial-regulatory system is moving in the right direction, Geithner writes, the matter is far from over. He touts movement toward an independent consumer-protection agency and giving the government authority to resolve the issue of "too big to fail." However, the financial system needs "stronger shock absorbers" to weather the next crisis, he writes.
