Health care reform may leave lawmakers uninsured

Members of Congress and their staff may be dropped from the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program before insurance exchanges or other alternatives are available, according to a Congressional Research Service report. An amendment offered by Sen. Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, and accepted in the final bill requires that Congress members and their aides buy coverage through an exchange, but the law does not include an effective date for the provision.
