How social networking ends careers

Employees who have written about their jobs on Facebook -- such as a Nebraska prison guard who bragged about smashing a prisoner's face on the ground -- are among the growing number of workers losing their jobs because of what they write online. "Common sense is a good guide here, but people can be so taken by the novelty of these sites that they forget there are consequences to posting the wrong thing," says Kerry Ryan, a labor lawyer.
