Red Cross staff members are kidnapped in DR Congo

Eight staff members have been kidnapped in the Democratic Republic of Congo and are being held by members of the Mai Mai Yakutumba militia, the International Committee of the Red Cross said Tuesday. The group -- one Swiss citizen and seven Congolese -- was abducted Friday while conducting an assessment of displaced persons' needs in the conflict-ravaged South Kivu region.
