Pastry chefs in California's Bay Area are concocting desserts that showcase strawberries, Meyer lemons and other produce in season. For example, Laura Matis, pastry chef at Osteria Stellina in Point Reyes Station, has been making a pound cake topped with buttermilk ice cream and a rhubarb-kumquat compote.
