Students are junior meteorologists at Massachusetts school

Fourth-grade students in a Massachusetts elementary school are monitoring their local weather and providing daily forecasts that are telecast on the Internet and the school's Web site. Their efforts grew out of a classroom unit on the study of weather, and the weather incorporates lessons in technology, social studies and math as students gather and analyze data and produce the reports. "What they're learning goes way above and beyond reading it in books," the school's principal said.
