Twitter unveils ad model

The fast-growing microblogging network Twitter has announced a plan to serve advertising on its site -- initially focusing on the search function. Users searching for certain keywords on the Twitter site will be shown "Promoted Tweets" among their results -- similar to the search advertising found on Google or Bing. Best Buy, cable network Bravo, Starbucks and Virgin America are among the initial advertisers.
