Colorado defines teacher effectiveness

A Colorado council appointed to determine what makes an educator effective has developed a complex definition that highlights six key qualities. To meet the standard, educators must demonstrate leadership, knowledge of the subjects they teach and responsibility for their students' progress. The council also offered 60 recommendations on teacher and principal evaluations tied to the new standards. Some districts will begin piloting the recommendations this summer.
