EU fines Unilever, P&G for price-fixing

The European Commission has issued combined fines of $456 million to Unilever and Procter & Gamble for price-fixing for laundry detergents in eight EU countries from 2002 to 2005. The marketers received a 10% reduction in the penalties by acknowledging their roles in the cartel, which regulators termed "Purity" in their probe. Henkel of Germany brought the matter to the attention of regulators, but did not receive a fine, according to this article.
