Overtime can be a valuable, money-saving tool

Overtime is often viewed as prohibitively expensive, but for some companies it can be less costly than hiring more workers. By using overtime wisely, companies can quickly respond to workload or staffing issues, and because some employees like earning extra money, it can make companies competitive in the labor market. But managers should be careful to not let workers get burned out by too many hours, which can hurt safety and quality.
